My 78,000 word manuscript entitled "Chrysalis" is an action-adventure, science fiction novel.

I grew up on the southern shores of Lake Superior...enjoying her mighty ocean-surf swells, the infinite depths, her monumental cliff formations, and the grandest of all freshwater islands. What lay beneath this pristine body finally surfaced in "Chrysalis"...a journey beneath Superior's icy winter sheaths and her mighty Aurora that once waved so majestically around the heavens above.

The adventure of "Chrysalis" begins during construction of a world-wide submarine communications network back in the 1960's. The project was halted when Naval geologists discovered mammoth hollowed-out depressions occupying the entire area beneath the big lake. But it wasn't until this past winter that a joint military/commercial expedition was organized. Utilizing hi-tech bedrock liquifying equipment, the team morphed through the Superior dolomite on a Presidential mission to map the cavern systems.

The explorers included military commanders and their Navy SEALs; civilian design engineers; area divers; a crotchety--but lovable--retired historian; and a teen-age boy who stowed away to be with his dad.

A living burial in the impaled bedrock morpher...wild ventilation shaft rides...nuclear agreements gone haywire...talking machinery...and splintering ice flows all threatened the dwindling expedition. Huge iron ore supercarriers were discovered grounded on the cavernous slag below. Alien bodies metamorphosized...exploding in their faces. There were the subterranean dwellers, their supernatural Aurora guardians...and the truth about the Canadians, the French, and the alien 'Providers'. The teams struggled with gargantuan hydraulic systems--the ancient stellarship's cavern entrance--in their climactic salvation attempt...but in the end it was the stowaway teen and his waddling friend who held the key. The key to final escape--the key to the Aurora above...the "Chrysalis" dome, now forever entombing its hideous captives below.

My literary background includes experience as a newspaper editor, copywriter, and editorial collumnist. I am also a seasoned television news writer, reporter, and editor...video production manager, three-dimensional computer animator...and high school communications department head, and as "webmaster" for my school's internet presence. Honors received include Associated Press "Best News Story", "Best Feature Story", and a DuPont "Award Of Excellence" nomination. I enjoy scuba diving, camping, motorcycle riding, and my hometown Lake Superior surfline as it pounds the agate-strewn beaches of Munising, Michigan...far above the Providers, the caverns, and the "Chrysalis" entombment.
